A company based on experience

The concept for i-Notification began in commercial nuclear emergency planning following the 1979 Three Mile Island accident.  At the time, emergency communications consisted of using radios, hotline telephone ringdown systems and fax machines.  The average time for transmittal of emergency information and verification of receipt by all interested parties was 20-30 minutes.

In 1988, a future i-Notification partner and a nuclear power plant engineering staff developed a radio-based emergency communication system that cut the transmittal/ receipt/ verification time for that plant down to 5 minutes.

By the late nineties, the Internet was an established means of communication, and
i-Notification was formed to integrate emergency management communication experience with this technology. For several years i-Notification researched and tested its system that served the petrochemical industry in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. During this time, this network of users worked closely with the
i-Notification staff on its communications platform upgrades to enhance the system. In 2007 the present version, 7.0, was operationally tested and put into service. The CAERcall and GOVcall systems in use today have effectively reduced the transmittal and receipt of vital emergency communications to a large number of emergency operations centers and personnel to mere seconds.

The 2001 World Trade Center attack and the incident at Virginia Tech in 2007 have resulted in the acceptance and need to use Internet-based text messaging communications systems to transmit information to a large number of first responder agencies and the general population. As i-Notification’s system has developed, it has grown to provide situational awareness communications during industrial accidents, natural disasters, and homeland security incidents.

In addition to partners with expertise in emergency management,
i-Notification partners have credentials in project management, first responder and law enforcement training and process safety management and auditing.
i-Notification is poised to meet the ever-increasing need to provide accurate and timely information for effective situational awareness communications.
